Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept medical insurance?

No, Family First operates under a model called Direct Primary Care. Patients are charged a monthly membership fee for physician services. Visits are unlimited and we do not bill or get reimbursements from insurance providers. Removing the burden of working with insurance networks allows our practice to refocus our time and energy on you.

I have medical insurance. Why should I join your clinic?

We encourage everyone to have insurance to cover things like unexpected hospitalizations, specialist care, and surgeries. For your primary care needs, our clinic promises you excellent quality-based care with unlimited access to your doctor. It is taking a step away from depersonalized inconvenient care towards personalized exceptional care.

Do I need insurance?

We highly recommend it. Our membership does not replace medical insurance, which may be needed for specialist care, hospitalization, or surgery. Furthermore, you can use your health insurance for other services such as imaging, bloodwork, and therapy. However, opting for high deductible and catastrophic care plans work well with our model and may save you significant amount of money compared to more expensive options.

I’m healthy, and I only see my PCP once a year- why should I join?

Access to your physician is invaluable, and we are committed to you. We are here for you whether you are sick or hurt, or just have questions! We will be proactive and partner with you to lead a healthy lifestyle. We ALL have ways we can improve our health- our model is intended to nurture long term health goals and a trusting relationship with your doctor.

Will this save me money?

We think there are many benefits of our clinic model, and in the long term we absolutely believe it will save you on your medical costs! But don’t take our word for it: do the math yourself! For most people, your primary doctor can take care of 80-90% of your healthcare needs. Some cost saving ways we do this include – No copays, no surprise bills, convenient face-to-face appts without long hours in the waiting room, access your doctor over the phone or video rather than taking time off work, and get labs/imaging/medications at low costs. We believe having a doctor who knows you and will take time to help you when you need it is priceless.
